During the closing ceremony of the 17th National Agriculture Show 2024, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Ildephonse Musafili, declared that “Vision 2050 is no longer a dream, but a reality.” This event, which featured active participation from the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate, showcased various innovations, including the Zai Pit Technology, implemented through the Gwiza-Muhinzi Project funded by the European Union

Dr. Patrick Karangwa, the team leader of the Agri-Show committee and Director General in charge of Agriculture Modernization at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, expressed his gratitude to the organizing team and the many supporters of this significant event, such as the European Union, Enabel, Rwanda National Police, USAID, and various financial institutions. Dr. Karangwa also thanked the exhibitors, noting that over 420 participated, and highlighted that more than 5,000 people, primarily farmers, visited the Agri-Show daily.

Mr. Jean Claude Shirimpumu, Head of the Agriculture Cluster in the Private Sector Federation and National Representative of Pig Breeders, extended his thanks to the Government of Rwanda for its relentless efforts in promoting agriculture. He praised the government’s initiatives to link farmers with both local and international markets, connect them with financial institutions, and organize these Agri-Shows. Mr. Shirimpumu urged farmers to seize the opportunities provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources and to adopt climate-friendly practices while learning from their peers to become more professional in their daily activities.

In his address as the guest of honor, Dr. Musafili expressed his appreciation for the significant role played by all partners in the country’s development, particularly in promoting agriculture. He encouraged farmers to begin preparing their lands and to put forth their best efforts in the upcoming Agricultural Season A 2025. Dr. Musafili emphasized that the exhibition offers a valuable opportunity for farmers to learn about new agricultural technologies.

He wished them success in their endeavors and stressed the importance of ensuring food security in Rwanda, concluding with the statement: “With our partners, Vision 2050 is no longer a dream but a reality.”
