
From July 31st to August 9th, 2024, the 17th Agri-Show is taking place at Mulindi Ground in Gasabo District, Kigali City. This year’s exhibition has brought together over 479 exhibitors, including the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate, which is showcasing a new technology known as the Zai Pit. This innovation is being implemented through the Gwiza-Muhinzi Project, funded by the European Union.

In his speech yesterday, Dr. Patrick Karangwa, the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), announced that the 17th Agri-Show 2024 has attracted both national and international exhibitors, including participants from Hungary, Senegal, Japan, and India, among others. Dr. Karangwa also noted that the event has already been visited by over 4,000 people, and he expects more than 40,000 visitors by the end of the ten-day exhibition. He encouraged farmers to take this opportunity to learn about new farming technologies from their peers.
The Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Cooperation at the Belgian Embassy, Mr. Laurent Preud’homme, expressed his satisfaction with the event and reaffirmed Belgium’s commitment to supporting agriculture as a cornerstone of wealth creation. He emphasized their ongoing efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector.
The European Union Ambassador to Rwanda, Ms. Belén Calvo Uyarra, who was one of the dignitaries at the official launch of the Agri-Show 2024, commended the Government of Rwanda for its relentless efforts in boosting agriculture and other development sectors.
The Minister of State, Dr. Eric Rwigamba, who served as the guest of honor, thanked everyone involved in organizing the Agri-Show, including national and international organizations, embassies, FAO, USAID, and Enabel, for their support in Rwanda’s agricultural transformation journey. He also expressed his gratitude to the exhibitors and emphasized that the exhibition is a learning platform where participants can exchange knowledge and adopt new farming technologies to enhance both the quality and quantity of their production.
