Over 30 women attend training on producing charcoal from renewable energy

Starting today, March 5, 2025, a three-day training session on producing charcoal from renewable energy is being held at the headquarters of the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate in Muhanga District, Southern Province. The training, primarily attended by women, is organized by the Centre d’Etude et de Coopération Internationale (CECI) in collaboration with the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate, Mr. François Xavier Mbabazi, expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to organizing the training. He urged participants to pay close attention, as they would be expected to apply the knowledge gained in their respective communities and teach others how to produce charcoal from household waste.

Mr. Mbabazi also emphasized that this training aims to reduce carbon emissions that harm the atmosphere, mitigate the negative effects of climate change, and promote the use of affordable renewable energy, among other benefits.

During group discussions, participants reviewed what they had learned in the morning session and reaffirmed their commitment to completing the training. They expressed enthusiasm about acquiring valuable skills that would enable them to produce charcoal at a lower cost and contribute to environmental conservation.
