Rwimbogo Sector, Gatsibo District – June 18, 2026

The Ingabo Farmers’ Association, through the SCORE Rwanda Project funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) and supervised by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), officially launched a nationwide Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) Technologies Awareness Campaign on June 18, 2026, in Rwimbogo Sector, Gatsibo District, Eastern Province.

The campaign marks a significant step toward promoting sustainable agricultural practices across Rwanda and empowering farmers to adapt to the growing challenges posed by climate change. Through awareness creation, knowledge sharing, and community engagement, the initiative seeks to equip farmers with innovative climate-smart technologies that enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen resilience, and improve household livelihoods.

The nationwide campaign is designed to encourage the adoption of sustainable farming practices that contribute to increased food production while protecting natural resources and building climate resilience. By empowering farmers with practical solutions, the initiative supports Rwanda’s broader efforts to achieve food security and sustainable agricultural development.

Speaking during the launch event, the Chairperson of the Ingabo Farmers’ Association, Mrs. Ceasarie Kantarama, emphasized the urgent need for collective action in addressing the negative effects of climate change. She called upon farmers across the country to actively participate in climate-smart agriculture initiatives and become agents of change within their communities.

“Climate change is a challenge that affects us all. We must work together and take ownership of the solutions. Farmers should not remain mere beneficiaries of development programs but become active partners in transforming agriculture and building resilient communities,” she said.

The event attracted local leaders, farmers, development partners, and community members who gathered to witness the launch of this important initiative. Addressing participants, the Vice Mayor in Charge of Economic Development in Gatsibo District, Mr. Jean Leonard Sekanyange, commended the Ingabo Farmers’ Association and its partners for choosing Gatsibo District as the starting point of the nationwide campaign.

He expressed gratitude for the continued efforts to support farmers and promote sustainable agricultural development, noting that the campaign will bring significant benefits to local communities and contribute to improving livelihoods across the district and beyond.

The Ingabo Farmers’ Association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting farmers in adopting climate-smart agriculture technologies and practices. Through partnerships and community-driven initiatives, the organization continues to play a key role in advancing sustainable agriculture and contributing to a more food-secure and climate-resilient Rwanda.

As the campaign rolls out nationwide, farmers are encouraged to embrace climate-smart innovations and become active participants in shaping a sustainable future for agriculture in Rwanda.
