Strengthening Farmer Field School Data Systems under the SCORE Rwanda Project

More than 90 Farmer Field School (FFS) Facilitators from 10 Districts across Rwanda have strengthened their skills in data collection, reporting, and accountability through a two-week training organized by the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate under the SCORE Rwanda Project, funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP).

Held from 10–23 February 2026, the training focused on equipping facilitators with the tools and techniques needed to ensure accurate, timely, and standardized data collection—a critical foundation for monitoring progress and improving the effectiveness of Farmer Field School activities.

A key component of the training was data collection from Demonstration Plots, which serve as practical learning hubs where farmers test and observe improved agricultural practices. Through hands-on sessions, practical exercises, and peer learning, facilitators sharpened their technical skills while reinforcing a culture of accountability, transparency, and knowledge sharing.

The sessions also highlighted the role of well-managed Demonstration Plots as powerful learning centers that allow farmers to experiment, compare results, and adopt more productive and climate-smart farming methods.

By the end of the program, facilitators were better equipped to collect high-quality field data, maintain accurate records, and deliver timely reports—strengthening the overall monitoring and learning systems of the SCORE Rwanda Project.

The training marks a significant step toward building stronger farmer learning systems and promoting data-driven agricultural development across the project’s implementation districts, ultimately supporting improved productivity and resilience among smallholder farmers.
