On October 10th, 2025, the Gwiza-Muhinzi Project Steering Committee convened at Lucerna Hotel in Muhanga District, Southern Province, for a strategic meeting aimed at accelerating farmers’ growth and driving Rwanda’s agricultural transformation.

The session brought together key development partners, including representatives from the European Union (EU), the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), and local government officials from various districts. This collaboration underscores a shared vision to empower smallholder farmers and promote sustainable, inclusive agricultural growth across Rwanda.
The discussions centered on innovative strategies to strengthen project implementation, enhance coordination among stakeholders, and ensure that interventions deliver measurable impact in improving cassava productivity and utilization. Participants emphasized the importance of aligning efforts to national agricultural priorities, supporting farmers with improved technologies, and ensuring that interventions contribute to food security, income generation, and resilience to climate change.
The Gwiza-Muhinzi Project focuses on enhancing cassava productivity and utilization as a pathway to improving food security and household incomes for smallholder farmers across the country. Through partnerships with national and international institutions, the project seeks to transform cassava value chains, promote efficient production systems, and create new market opportunities for farmers.
By fostering collaboration and innovation, the Gwiza-Muhinzi Project continues to play a vital role in Rwanda’s journey toward a modern, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector—where farmers are at the center of change and prosperity.
