IFAD Supervision Mission Reinforces Path to Resilient Agriculture under SCORE Rwanda Project

Rwanda’s journey toward resilient and sustainable agriculture received a strong boost following a successful supervision mission led by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) under the SCORE Rwanda Project. Conducted from 13 to 24 April 2026, the mission reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening food systems and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across the country.

Funded by the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program ( GAFSP) and implemented by the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate, the SCORE Rwanda Project continues to stand out as a practical and impactful initiative driving agricultural transformation at the grassroots level. The supervision mission provided a valuable opportunity to take stock of progress, align on priorities, and strengthen the project’s long-term impact.

Throughout the visit, the IFAD delegation engaged closely with the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate and its partners, offering strategic insights and technical guidance to further enhance implementation. These discussions focused on improving efficiency, scaling innovations, and ensuring that farmers continue to benefit from sustainable and climate-smart practices.

A key highlight of the mission was a series of field visits across Districts where the project is actively being implemented. These on-the-ground engagements allowed the delegation to witness firsthand the tangible results of the initiative—from improved farming practices to stronger farmer organization and increased productivity. Interactions with farmers and local stakeholders revealed growing confidence, ownership, and optimism driven by the project’s interventions.

The delegation was warmly received by the Ingabo Farmers’ Syndicate and its implementing partners, reflecting the strong collaboration that underpins the project’s success. In turn, local stakeholders expressed appreciation for IFAD’s continued support and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the mission’s recommendations with diligence and purpose.

As Rwanda continues to prioritize agricultural transformation, the SCORE Rwanda Project demonstrates how strong partnerships, farmer-led approaches, and targeted investments can deliver lasting impact. With renewed momentum from this supervision mission, stakeholders are well-positioned to accelerate progress toward a more productive, resilient, and sustainable agricultural future.
